Payment Guide for Analysts
This guide explains how analysts get paid on PolicyCON. We want to make sure you receive your earnings smoothly and understand the process. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of what you need to know
- Setting Up Your Payment Details: Once you’re onboarded as an analyst, you should add your payment information in your account settings. We currently support secure payments through common methods – for example, direct bank transfer and PayPal. In your profile’s Payments section, you’ll be prompted to provide the necessary details (such as bank account number/IBAN for transfers, or the email associated with your PayPal). Rest assured, this information is encrypted and stored safely. It’s important to keep it updated; if your details change (new bank, etc.), update them to avoid any payout delays.
- Earnings Calculation: As described in Analyst Rewards, your earnings accumulate based on how readers engage with your content. All subscriber fees go into a revenue pul, and a significant portion of that pool is allocated to pay analysts. Each month, we calculate each analyst’s share from that pool. The calculation considers metrics like the number of reads your articles received, the length of time readers spent, and their feedback (for example, likes or high ratings). We aim to use a fair and transparent formula. You don’t need to do any math – the system tallies everything automatically. You can monitor your current earnings in real time (or near real time) on your dashboard, so you always have an idea of where you stand.
- Payout Schedule: PolicyCON issues payouts on a regular schedule. Typically, payments are made monthly. For example, earnings for the month of April would be paid out in early May. We usually process payouts within the first week of the month for the previous month’s earnings. Keep in mind there might be a minimum payout threshold (for instance, if your earnings are below a small amount like £20, we might carry it over to the next month to bundle with future earnings, to avoid excessive transaction fees). If you don’t meet the threshold in one month, your earnings aren’t lost – they just roll over until the threshold is reached.
- Receiving Payment: When the payout date arrives, we will transfer the funds to your provided payment method. You’ll get an email notification confirming the payment has been sent. Depending on your method and country, it might take a few business days to appear in your bank account or PayPal balance. Bank transfers within the UK might arrive the same day, whereas international transfers can take a bit longer. PayPal payments are usually instant once processed on our end. All payouts are made in GBP (£) by default (since PolicyCON is based in the UK), unless otherwise specified. If your bank or account is in a different currency, the conversion will be handled by your bank or PayPal at their prevailing rate.
- Taxes and Records: The earnings you receive are typically considered self-employed income or freelance income from your side. PolicyCON does not deduct income tax from your payouts. That means it’s your responsibility to declare this income in your tax filings according to your local laws. We provide an annual summary of your earnings (accessible in your account statements) to help you with record-keeping. If you need a formal invoice or have to provide one (some jurisdictions require freelancers to invoice the platform), our system can generate those or you can contact us for assistance. Always consult a tax professional if you’re unsure about how to handle the income from PolicyCON.
- Troubleshooting Payment Issues: If a payment doesn’t arrive when expected or if you spot a discrepancy in your earnings report, don’t panic. First, check that your payment details are correct in the system. Next, check if you received any email from us about an issue (occasionally, we might need additional verification for security). If everything looks fine on your end, reach out to PolicyCON Support. We have a dedicated support channel for analyst payments. Provide the details (your username, the period in question, and the issue). We will investigate and resolve the problem as quickly as possible. Our goal is that you never have to worry about chasing a payment.
- Staying Informed: We keep our analysts informed of any changes to payment policies. If we introduce a new payout method, adjust the revenue share model, or change the schedule, you will be notified well in advance via email and our analyst newsletter. We are committed to transparency, so you’ll always know how the system works. Also, we welcome feedback – if you feel something about the payment system could be improved, let us know. Some of our best features (like the real-time earnings dashboard) came from analyst suggestions.
By following this guide, you can focus on writing great content and engaging with readers, knowing that the financial side is handled reliably. PolicyCON values your contributions, and we want the reward process to be clear and fair. If you ever have questions about getting paid, we’re here to help every step of the way.
